Chiefs power past Snappers

— The Peoria Chiefs played home run derby at the expense of the Beloit Snappers here Thursday night at Pohlman Field.

The Chiefs hit three home runs, including a three-run blast from Junior Lake in the top of the fourth, in pulling away for a 7-2 win in Midwest League baseball.


Beloit (15-24 in the second half) took a 2-1 lead in the second on an Aaron Hicks RBI single, but Peoria took the lead for in the fourth on Lake's sixth home run of the season.


Liam Hendriks (1-3) was roughed up in suffering the loss. Hendriks gave up four runs in six innings of work on eight hits.


Beloit begins a three-game series at Cedar Rapids tonight.
