The Legislature's Joint Finance Committee approves more than $600,000 in federal stimulus money to go to Janesville in the form of an energy efficiency conservation block grant.
City Development Specialist Al Hulick says about half the money will be used to replace street lights, stop lights, and light fixtures in government buildings. The goal is to make them more environmentally friendly.
Money will also go towards upgrades at the Ice Arena, and for home energy audits.
