The new Beloit Public Library facility is proving popular in its first week of operation.

Public Relations Librarian Jeni Schomber says more than one thousand people came to the open house last Saturday. She says the circulation desk is very busy. On an average Monday, patrons check out about 1750 items. On the first Monday of business, patrons checked out more than 2,600 items.

Schomber says the teen area is especially popular, although the listening stations aren't set up yet.
