Beloit Memorial’s Krystal Wojociechowski pounded a one-out home run in the seventh inning to stop Janesville Parker, 3-2, in Big Eight Conference softball Tuesday at Dawson Field.

“You can’t take that one away from her,” Parker coach Jenni Seisser said. “She smacked it to the wall.’’

The Vikings fell to 1-9 in the Big Eight and 1-11 overall.

While Wojociechowski’s homer was bonafide, the Purple Knights’ first two runs scored on throwing errors.

Parker’s Katie Brossard and Kassy Hendricks smacked game-tying RBI singles in the fourth and sixth innings, respectively.

Parker starting pitcher Ashley Ross allowed five hits, notched nine strikeouts and walked a pair.

“Ross pitched a heck of a game,” Seisser said.

Parker hosts Madison East on Thursday.

The Cougars managed only three hits off Sun Prairie freshman pitcher Hanna Running. She struck out 10 and walked only one.

“Running threw pretty well, but we helped her out quite a bit,” Craig coach Dan Bayreuther said. “We swung at quite a few high ones and not enough good pitches.

“We needed to be more aggressive earlier in the count.”

Jillynn Mortensen had a triple to lead off the fourth for Craig, and scored on Oliver’s safety squeeze.

The Cougars are at Beloit Memorial on Thursday.
