Kane County sweeps Beloit

— The Beloit Snappers lost twice to the Kane County Cougars in a Midwest League baseball doubleheader here Sunday.

The Cougars pounded the Snappers, 11-6, in the opener and edged Beloit, 8-7,in the night cap.

In Game 1, Kane County scored all its runs in the first three innings, including five runs in the second inning for a 8-0 lead. Kane County notched 10 hits, including a pair of doubles and a home run.

Beloit starter Michael Allen (0-3) took the loss, allowing eight runs on seven hits in 13 innings.

In Game 2, the Cougars’ Steve Kleen ripped a two-out, two-run homer in the sixth inning off Beloit reliever Danny Rondon for the winning margin.
