Janesville Craig and Janesville Parker’s girls soccer teams failed to score in Big Eight Conference action Thursday night.

The Cougars dropped a 4-0 decision at Madison La Follette, while the Vikings lost by the same score at home to Madison West.

Craig High (4-2, 1-2) was coming off a tournament title last weekend in Fond du Lac, but could not overcome La Follette’s three-goal outburst in the second half.

“We’ve got a couple of things that we need to correct, and we will, but overall I thought we played pretty well,” Craig coach Bill McCabe said. “La Follette is a high-scoring team, and we just couldn’t get anything going offensively.”

The Cougars will host a tournament today and Saturday, with Craig’s first game against Elkhorn at 5 p.m. today.

The Regents’ Jenni Mohoney scored in the game’s first half minute to get West going.

“We had jitters right away and it was like ‘Bam!’ and I’m like ‘Whoa, what happened?’” Parker head coach Amy Wargowsky said.

The score could have been worse had Parker goalkeper Sam Anacker not stopped 23 shots.

“Sam did another awesome job,” Wargowsky said.

The Vikings will be back in action next Thursday at Verona.
