— Janesville Craig High School boys track and field team coach Jeff Deininger could not say enough about the Cougars’ title Friday in the Watertown Invitational.

“It’s the best team victory since I’ve been here,” Deininger said. “Everybody lent a hand in scoring in this meet.”

Eric Gudgeon won the 3,200 run in 10:40.2. Joey Kennedy won the long jump with a leap of 20-5, and Alex Crandall won the pole vault with a 12-foot vault.

Deininger gave the winners praise, but was happy the Cougars fought for the seconds and thirds to gain the title.

“I could not be happier,” he said. “We competed as a team in every event tonight.’’

n Craig girls fourth—Amanda Klobucar’s winning pole vault of eight feet set a personal record, and teammate Lauren Moran vaulted a personal record seven feet for second place to boost the Craig girls’ efforts.

Craig collected 107 points, while Watertown posted 127.5 to win the meet.

“We scored quite a few points,” Craig coach Mark Marsden said. “We did very well with the talent we have.’’

Marsden said freshman Kaylyn Funk did well with a third-place in the discus (92-1), and fourth place in the shot put (34-5).

The Craig girls and boys will host Sun Prairie on Tuesday.
