Parker softball falls shirt against La Follette
JANESVILLE Janesville Parker High School’s last-inning rally fell short en route to a 3-2 loss to visiting Madison La Follette in Big Eight Conference softball Wednesday at Dawson Field.
With her team trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the seventh, Parker’s Kassy Hendricks smacked a lead-off single for the Vikings’ third hit of the game.
Paige Muehlenkamp reached, on error and Alyssa Byford ripped an RBI single to snap the shutout. Parker cut the deficit to 3-2 on run-scoring error, but the game ended with Viking runners on second and third.
“We played better than we did against Craig,” coach Jenni Seisser said. “We had two good days of practice and were mentally into the game.’’
Parker freshman starting pitcher Ashley Ross allowed five hits and notched seven strikeouts. La Follette starter Michelle Jones gave up four hits and notched nine strikeouts.
Parker (1-8, 1-6) plays at Madison Memorial at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
