Local unemployment rates announced

The Department of Workforce Development reports the unemployment rate for the Janesville Metropolitan Statistical Area rose .5% in March to 13.5%.

Unemployment rates increased in each of the state's 12 MSA's, with Janesville's being the highest. The Janesville area rate was only 5.5% a year ago. DWD Secretary Roberta Gassman says Wisconsin counties and local areas, like the state, are feeling the impact of the global reconomic challenges facing everyone.

The state rate is 9.4%

13.5% and climbing, just like our taxes will.
