Janesville runners stay close at Boston Marathon

Janesville runners made a tight-knit group at the 113th Boston Marathon finish line on Monday.

Wesley Green, 42, led the five Janesville entries, finishing in 3 hours, 21 minutes and 56 seconds. Robert F. Russo Jr., 55, followed Green in 3:26.53.

Jim Hutchinson, 58, running in his sixth straight Boston Marathon and eighth Boston overall, posted a 3:32.03. Sue Gray, 44, running in her fifth Boston and 25th marathon overall, followed Hutchinson in 3:33.19, while Jennifer Halkey, 26, a Milton High School graduate, finished in 3:40.15.

Meanwhile, Matt Carter, 30, a 1996 Janesville Parker High School graduate, who lives in Saugus, Mass., finished 135th overall in 2:37.41.

Julie Shimer, 30, of Lake Geneva finished in 3:38.46 and Don Crowder, 63, of Lake Geneva finished in 4:21.41. Anne Thatcher, 47, of Whitewater crossed the finish line in 3:46.27.

The 113th Boston Marathon hosted 26,000 runners.

Congratulations! You had a nasty winter to train in and still posted great times!
I, on the other hand never missed American Idol or the warmth of my sofa.

Congratulation to all the runners. Anyone who finished is a hero in my book. Takes a lot of dedication and stamina to run this race. Also requires lots of training but I bet the feeling of accomplishment is overwhelming.
