Parker wins, Craig falls in girls soccer
Nicole Strieker helped the Janesville Parker girls soccer team get the Big Eight Conference season off to a good start.
Strieker scored a goal and added two assists in Parker’s 3-2 win over Beloit Memorial on Thursday night.
The Vikings (4-1, 1-0) led 2-1 at halftime before Strieker’s goal off a penalty kick at 49:13 gave Parker a two-goal lead.
“It was a pretty even game,” Parker first-year coach Amy Wargowsky said. “All the goals were on breakaways except for Nicole’s off the penalty kick.
“The game was a lot more physical than I thought it would be, but our girls kept their composure and got the win.”
Sam Anacker made four saves in goal to earn the victory. Brianna Michios and Catie O’Leary scored goals in the first six minutes of the game to give Parker an early 2-0 lead.
The Vikings will host Oregon in a nonconference game at 7 o’clock tonight.
