Warharks split doubleheader with UW-Oshkosh

OSHKOSH — UW-Whitewater came off the deck to register a split with UW-Oshkosh in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball here Wednesday.

The league-leading Titans (14-8, 6-2) romped to an 11-0 victory in Game 1 for their third straight victory this season over the third-place Warhawks (15-8, 7-5). Whitewater bounced back with a 7-4 victory in the nightcap.

Oshkosh bombed Whitewater with five runs in the first inning of the opener and rolled to the victory in seven innings. The Warhawks were blanked on four hits.

The Titans raked three Warhawks’ pitchers 12 hits. Starter Jason Hooper allowed five unearned runs on four hits through the first two innings to absorb the loss.

In Game 2, the Warhawks jumped on Oshkosh for four runs on five hits in the first inning, including Matt Millar’s two-run single, and held on for the 7-4 victory.

C.J. Herrforth picked up the victory, pitching two scorless innings in relief and Aaron Dott gained the save, allowing no runs on two hits through the final 2 1/3 innings.
