Late goal lifts Parker soccer team
Nicole Strieker weaved around three defenders and put in the winning goal as visiting Janesville Parker edged Lodi, 2-1, in a nonconference girls soccer match Tuesday afternoon.
The Vikings (3-1) also got a goal from sophomore Brianna Michios, off an assist by Strieker, to break away from a 0-0 tie at halftime.
Parker coach Amy Warkowsky said the Vikings’ ability to get to the ball, win the 50-50 balls and make the right passes were the keys to the victory.
With the score tied, 1-1, Strieker got a throw-in and dribbled through the middle of the field and put the ball into the bottom corner of the net at the 77:28 mark.
Sophomore Savannah Shepler and senior Sam Anacker each played a half in goal. Shepler had one save, and Anacker had four.
The Vikings begin Big Eight Conference play at Beloit at 7 p.m. Thursday.
