Rock County's Criminal Justice Coordinating Council is discussing "Wrap Around Services" for the county jail's RECAP programs.
Sheriff's Commander Tom Gehl says those services help people detox before they enter the programs to get basic level service, so they're clean of substances when they start the programs and can start treatment in earnest. He says the county is seeing the gaps in service in both RECAP, Community RECAP, and in connection with the county's heroin problem. He says the Sheriff's Office wants the CJCC to review the need and formulate solutions to the problem.
He says people involved in the RECAP programs will describe how they're affected when people who aren't clean of chemical substances go into the program.
The CJCC is composed of members from different elements of the criminal justice system. It meets Thursday.
