Local players will play in all-star games

Four area girls basketball players, including Parker High’s first-team all-stater Catie O’Leary, have been chosen to play in the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association all-star games.

The games will be played June 20 at Madison Area Technical College.

O’Leary, the Big Eight player of the year and a University of Loyola (Chicago) recruit, will play on the Division 1 South team. Other area representatives include Monroe’s Emily Rufenacht and Brodhead’s Kristen Ruchti on the Division 2 South team and Clinton’s Liz Althoff on the Division 3 South team.

Two area coaches have been named to coach all-star teams.

Craig High’s Mark Marsden will coach the Division 1 South team. Whitewater’s Judy Harms will coach the Division 2 South team. Marsden will be assisted by two members of his Craig coaching staff, Kerry Storbakken and Mike Morgan. Harms will be assisted by the Whippets’ Mike Amundson and Edgerton’s Mike Schmidt.
