Man injured in car-motorcycle crash
A Janesville man is in Mercy Hospital with life-threatening injuries after a car-motorcycle accident Saturday.
At 4:30 p.m. a car driven by Omar Miguel-Lopez, 23, of Janesville was eastbound on Mt. Zion Avenue when he failed to stop for a red light at Pontiac Drive and collided with a motorcycle driven by Bradley Griffith, 45, of Janesville, according to Janesville Police Sgt. Dean Sukus.
Griffith was northbound on Pontiac Drive.
Miguel-Lopez fled the scene but was followed by witnesses into the Village Green area just east of the Interstate 39/90 overpass.
Miguel-Lopez then tried to leave in another vehicle but was stopped by Janesville Police officers and arrested.
Griffith was transported to Mercy Hospital.
Miguel-Lopez was arrested on charges of hit and run causing great bodily harm and knowingly operating while his license was revoked causing great bodily harm.
He is being held at the Rock County Jail.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident, Sukus said.
