Janesville woman leading the Parade

JANESVILLE — This Sunday, Christine Kenseth of Janesville will see her salary listed next to Jennifer Aniston’s.

So will everyone else.

Kenseth, along with executives, celebrities and just plain folks, will have their salaries and photos featured on the cover of Parade Magazine as part of its annual “What People Earn” report.

Kenseth, a Jazzercise instructor and class owner makes $78,000. Aniston, movie and television star, makes $26 million.

“I’ve got to change careers,” Kenseth said, laughing.

Kenseth has worked for Jazzercise for about 12 years. She teaches classes and is an owner, as well. A class owner sets up classes at different venues, hires instructors and handles the paperwork.

She offers classes in Jefferson, Janesville, Edgerton, Beloit, Fort Atkinson and Cambridge.

Kenseth was recently given the President’s Club Award-platinum status by Jazzercise, making her one of the top money earners in the franchise. Her sales contributed to Jazzercise’s $93 million in sales last year.

But that’s not what got her on to the cover of Parade.

A couple of months ago, Kenseth saw the request for salary information on the magazine’s Web site. She submitted her information, and Parade followed up with an e-mail, asking her to submit a headshot.

She did it for a lark, not thinking much of it and was startled to hear the results.
