ELKHORN A former Walworth Elementary School teacher pleaded guilty Thursday to drug and bail jumping charges.
Katie M. Luessenhop, 26, of 250 S. Edwards Blvd., No. 146, Lake Geneva, pleaded guilty to two counts of felony possession of heroin and one count of felony bail jumping.
Two other felony bail jumping counts were dismissed along with one count of possession of cocaine stemming from an incident in the school parking lot Sept. 18.
Luessenhop and Stephen M. Compton, 44, of 250 Van Bee Circle, Williams Bay, were arrested March 7 in Lake Geneva after Walworth County Drug Enforcement Unit deputies executed a search warrant on Luessenhop's apartment, according to the criminal complaint.
The deputies, who were surveilling Compton and Luessenhop, executed the warrant after seeing them driving together in one of Compton's vehicles, a violation of Luessenhop's bond agreement, according to the complaint.
They reported finding Luessenhop and Compton in her apartment and a bindle of heroin in Luessenhop's wallet.
Luessenhop admitted numerous contacts with Compton while on bond and admitted snorting cocaine and heroin that night. She also admitted buying $3,000 worth of heroin using money given to her by Compton, according to the complaint.
Compton was released from jail March 8 after posting $2,000 cash but was arrested three days later on a bail jumping charge. He has since been held in jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
Luessenhop was bailed out the same day Compton was arrested.
Compton is scheduled to appear in court April 29 for a bail/bond forfeiture hearing.
Luessenhop is scheduled to be sentenced June 25.

I hope they throw the book at her!
********************
she does need a punishment but throwing the book at her is not going to help her, she needs in addition to punishment to have some type of rehab to help her not just come back out on the streets and be a repeat offender the rest of her life.

It's too bad good people get subjected to this kind of behavior. Although it is self-induced, it can happen to anyone, and it doesn't mean that she is a bad person. Addicts are regular people with a problem, like everyone else. Everyone has problems, whether it be anxiety or a nicotine addiction. It doesn't matter because there is help for all and i hope the ex-teacher gets some help and follows her dreams.~BEST WISHES~

your right prinny, I hope they do impose a sentence in rehab, to help her get her life back, if she doesn't do it now and get off the drugs who knows what it will lead her to next, she could end up in more serious trouble

I hope that she can clean her act up and get into a profession/career that she can find purpose in, and realize her life IS more important than her drug addiction. It's a shame in cases like this where obviously their addiction is just too much for them to beat. She doesn't committ any other crimes she is just addicted to a drug and breaks her bond to get it. I think she would be prime candidate for intensive AODA treatment or another intermediate sanction program. I really hope the state does not waste its costly prison space on this one. Let's get her the treatment she so obviously needs and hold her accountable by requiring that she get her life back on track.
And you're right Mooser, she will never teach or most likely be approved for any state licensure for a social service(nursing, etc). Which in all reality is good. The state is pretty strict on their background checks for civil service positions.

I don't think she should ever go back to teaching but I do hope she gets cleaned up and help for her habit. She had her chance to be trusted with the children in the school system and that she blew. A teacher should only get one chance, and if they do something like this or anything else that can harm the children they should never have a second chance at our kids, she is young she can find another profession.

She looks so young. I really hope she can get clean and even go back to teaching. It really would be a pity if this is the defining moment of her life.
