Warhawks sweep Pointers
STEVENS POINT The UW-Whitewater softball team is on a roll.
The Warhawks improved to 8-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference by winning a doubleheader at UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday.
Whitewater (18-2 overall) rolled to a five-inning 9-0 victory in game one and won the nightcap, 11-4.
Orfordville Parkview graduate Amy Gahl led the hit parade for the Warhawks. Gahl finished 6-for-8 in the two games, including a home run and a double in the first game.
Whitewater jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead in game one, while pitcher Jessica Stang threw three-hit ball to pick up the win.
Suzanne Gersich was 4-for-5 in the second game with two RBI and three runs scored.
The Warhawks will play at Dubuque (Iowa) today in a nonconference doubleheader.
