Arrests

-- A 16-YEAR-OLD BELOIT BOY at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of North Randall Avenue, Janesville, was referred to juvenile authorities on a charge of sexual assault.

Intoxicated driving arrests

-- JESS F. DEEGAN, 77, of 321 Caroline St., Janesville, at 10:19 p.m. Tuesday at Madison and Ravine streets, Janesville. It was reportedly his fourth offense.

Reported

-- BURGLARY reported at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday to a home in the 2100 block of South Marion Avenue, Janesville. Reported stolen were two rifles, a shotgun, money and other items with a total value of $1,605.

-- THEFT reported at 8 a.m. Tuesday from Alter Recycling, 1753 Beloit Ave., Janesville. Reported stolen was $6,000 in scrap copper wire.

Fire calls

-- BARN FIRE at 9:34 p.m. Tuesday at 6417 E. County A, Janesville. A sheep kicked over a heat lamp that fell onto hay, causing it to ignite. Farmer Tim Maloney was in the barn at the time and threw 5 gallon buckets of water on the fire until Janesville firefighters arrived. The metal structure was filled with smoke and firefighters knocked down the fire that was contained to one stall in the barn. Twenty animals—nine lambs, seven sheep and four pigs—were rescued. Damage was estimated at $25. The Milton Fire Department provided mutual aid by bringing a tanker to the scene.

-- BRUSH FIRE at 12:02 p.m. Tuesday on Buggs Road in Porter Township. A controlled burn that started at 7:56 a.m. got out of control, and the Edgerton Fire Department was dispatched. Evansville assisted with a brush truck. Firefighters remained on scene for 90 minutes.
