Snappers set public event Tuesday

The 2009 Snappers have some players back from last year as the new season begins Thursday....

— Fans of the Beloit Snappers can mingle with this year’s squad Tuesday at Beloit Memorial High School.

The annual “Meet the Team Night” will begin at 6 p.m. for the general public.

Manager Nelson Prada is back, along with Gary Lucas, pitching coach. Rich Miller is the new hitting coach.

Returning players include pitchers Michael Allen, Danny Hernandez, Shooter Hunt, Henry Reyes and Brad Tippett. Ozzie Lewis returns in the outfield, while infielders Hank Sanchez and Ramon Santana and catcher Eli Tintor also will be back playing at Telfer Park.

New pitchers will be Steve Blevins, Bobby Lanigan, Daniel Osterbrock, Danny Rondon, Joe Testa and Tom Wright.

Alexander Soto is a new player at catcher. New infielders are James Beresford, Dominic DeLa Osa, Nate Hanson, Nicholas Romero and Jon Waltenbury.

New outfielders are Evan Bigley, Michael Harrington, Angel Morales and Adan Severino.

The home opener is April 16th against Burlington.
