Director Tom Presny says this time every year controlled burns are conducted to enhance the natural beauty of prairie areas of the city. This year more than 200 acres could be burned. He says residents in neighboring areas of the burns have been notified, and are advised to keep their windows closed.

He also asks children avoid playing in the areas.
