The City of Janesville is still feeling the effects of last year's flooding.
Director of Administrative Services Jay Winzenz says wet spring weather has hampered final clean up efforts in both Traxler and Riverside Parks. The problem is groundwater is saturating the soil. Winzenz says there's so much water the wading pool at Riverside is full. This will likely delay restoration work planned for the pool. Winzenz says large areas are also covered with bare soil, which was used to cover contaminated areas from last summer's river flooding. He says there's been no opportunity to establish new grass in these areas.
All city workers can do is wait for better weather and hope the parks dry out.
