Waunakee jolts Parker soccer team
JANESVILLE After starting the season with an impressive win over Burlington, Janesville Parker High School’s girls soccer team took a step backward Thursday night.
Second-ranked Waunakee scored six goals in the first half en route to an 11-0 nonconference win over the Vikings.
Phoebe Herman had a hat trick for Waunakee, while the Vikings managed only three shots on goal.
“I think it was a combination of Waunakee being a lot quicker than we thought they would be, and us not playing very well,” Parker coach Amy Wargowsky said of the loss.
“And even though the score might not show it, I thought Sam (Anacker) played a great game in goal. Even the Waunakee coach told her that.”
Parker returns to action tonight with a nonconference game against Rockford Jefferson at 7.
