— Call it a three-peat for the Milton Stingers.

The eighth-grade girls basketball traveling team won its third straight Wisconsin State Invitational Division 1 championship last weekend.

Playing in a tournament based on the enrollment of the high school that each team feeds into, the Stingers took this year’s title by going 7-0 in the state tournament.

The Stingers defeated Manitowoc, Mukwonago, Baraboo, Chippewa Falls, Bay Port and Eau Claire Memorial before knocking off Kimberly, 36-31, in the championship game.

With an unbeaten 2008-09 season, the Stingers capped off a five-year stretch in which they won the three Division 1 titles and two all-division state championships.

Members of the Stingers, who have played together since third grade, are Elizabeth Westrick, Bree Davis, Laura Stair, Allison Schullo, Stephanie Stair, Emily Ezdon, Taylor Zamzow, Baylee Davis and Morgan Blumer. Derek Davis is the head coach, with Jeff Ezdon and Ron Zamzow serving as assistants.
