Police issue child enticement warning
MILTON The Milton police warned the community to watch out for two men suspected of trying to lure children into their vans in the Fort Atkinson area.
Milton police described one of the men as a white, in his 40s to 50s, shoulder-length brown hair and a goatee. He was driving a full-size conversion van with gray and blue stripes. He attempted to lure children into the van by offering candy, according to the police.
A second suspect is a white man in his 30s about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black leather coat with white fur around the hood. He had dark brown hair and a crew-cut and goatee. He was driving a Chevy Astro-type minivan is dark red or maroon with blue, black and white stripes below the door moldings.
Janesville police don’t believe the reports are related to a Friday incident in Janesville in which a man reportedly approached four young girls playing in their South Franklin Street backyard with promises of candy in his vehicle.
Milton police encouraged anyone spotting the vehicles near schools or parks to call 911. Callers can remain anonymous.

With the current economic state I am not sure we can afford more police but it wouldn't hurt for them to look for weirdo's in conversion vans instead of hiding behind a sign on Beloit Ave (where almost everyone speeds). If we hear of another weirdo in our neighborhoods I suggest we all grab our pitchforks and watch from our front porches.

"87" That's the kind of thinking we need...good work! Now listen to everyone about police. There are so many people who think police are not busy enough, or busy with 'bothering' people. Well, maybe one patrol car for a few square miles isn't enough, if you want people like these apparent pedophiles driving the van, to be kept away from our kids! I would like to see more cops out there so they can be around at all the right times!

If I could do something to turn these guys in, or anyone else like them...this news pisses me off. These people are truly predators.

What if one of our children gets kidnapped, is the local law enforcement ready? (hope so) I would also hope that there would be hundreds of volunteers ready to search that minute. Maybe Rock Co. should have a volunteer list ready just in case, sign me up.

WishfulTHINKING...Right? I will never understand how someone would have a desire to harm a baby. Never. I understand that there must be mental conditions, but I just don't understand how it could be acted upon. They are babies! Defenseless, trusting innocent (until we change their innocence) babies!

Back in the day, we safely walked to and from school- quite a distance.. Today I have to drive my 10 yr. old daughter a very short distance.. She begs to walk or ride a bike, however its just not safe and there are not enough other kids close by to walk with. Its just this kind of article that confirms that I will continue to drive her. Be safe everyone!

Well, I would certainly hope all these reports turn out to be misunderstandings or otherwise unfounded. This is a pretty rare crime and to have all these in a close area at once is unusual to say the least -- out of some 800,000 missing children each year, just 100 or so are stranger abductions. That's the entire year and the entire country.

Just a reminder to parents that it is their responsibility to teach their children to not talk to or take candy or presents from strangers!
