WCLO's Steve Benton reports on some local high school students address the legislature's Joint Finance Committee
ROCK COUNTY The Joint Finance Committee is scheduled to meet Friday at Cambridge.
17 youth from the Rock County Youth 2 Youth group will lobby for their program and for two statewide initiatives. Director of the group, Debbie Fischer, says the students want to back the statewide smoking ban proposal, and proposed cigarette tax increase. They also want to lobby for continued funding for the Youth 2 Youth program, which teaches children the dangers of using tobacco products.
The communities represented by the youth include Janesville, Beloit, Town of Beloit, Edgerton, Evansville, and Milton.
