JOHNSTOWN TOWNSHIP Two newcomers are vying for first supervisor in the town of Johnstown. Incumbent Dennis Logterman is giving up his supervisor spot to run unopposed for town chairman.

Job: Owner of Property Consultants, a home and light commercial inspection company.
Education: Graduated from Parker High School in 1984; degree in diesel mechanics from MATC, 1990; ITA inspection training, 1999.
Community service: Assisted in Camden Park project, helped with sandbags in Newville during the 2008 flood.
Elected posts: None
Major campaign issue: "I want to maintain the integrity of the Johnstown area while keeping taxes to a minimum for the taxpayers. I am for the preservation of our most valuable asset, farmland. If we do not control urban sprawl, we will be passing on a deficit to future generations and relying on foreign countries for food."

Job: Retired high school principal
Education: Bachelor's degree from University of Minnesota in chemistry and physics; master's degree from UW-Madison in educational administration; doctorate from same school in same field, 1989.
Community service: Whitewater Kiwanis, also has been in Janesville Kiwanis and Whitewater Optimists.
Elected posts: none
Major campaign issue: "I'm in favor of farmland preservation. At the same time, I'm in favor of encouraging development in areas that aren't farmland. I believe in integrity in government, which sometimes seems awfully hard to find these days. I'm willing to listen to people."
