SHARON A Sharon Village Board member is challenging the board president for his seat in the middle of her term.
Diane Dykstra, who served five years previously and again since 2008, challenges President Chuck Dorn. Dorn has been board president since 2007 and on the board since 2006.
If Dykstra were elected to the president position, the rest of her trustee term would be filled by appointment.
Chuck Dorn

Community service: Current chairman of Sharon Plan Commission; member of SLATS commuter study; member of the Sharon of Board of Review; has volunteered with the village July 4th committee.
Elected posts: Village president since 2007; village trustee from 2006-07.
Major campaign issue: "Two years ago I pledged to bring fiscal responsibility to village government, and Sharon now has had two years of balanced budgets after previous deficit spending. The groundwork has been laid for the new industrial park and the cultivation/recruitment of new business must continue."
Diana A. Dykstra
Address: 169 W. School St., Sharon.
Age: 35
Job: City of Lake Geneva clerk
Education: Earned a bachelor's degree in political science from UW-Whitewater in 1995; earned a master's degree in public administration from Keller Graduate School in 2007.
Community service: Member of the Sharon Fire and Rescue Auxiliary.
Elected posts: Served on the Sharon Village Board from 2001-06 and 2008-present.
Major campaign issues: "An issue for the village is holding the line on taxes while providing the same level of services. Increasing utility costs, service contracts and debt service for the industrial park could force us to be creative in our budget. We need to market our industrial park to bring economic development."
