JEA endorses four candidates
JANESVILLE The teachers union has endorsed four candidates for Janesville School Board: Greg Ardrey, Karl Dommershausen, Jim Farrell and Peter D. Severson.
Eight candidates are running for five board seats in next Tuesday's elections. Ardrey and Severson were appointed to the board last summer. Dommershausen and Farrell are newcomers.
The endorsements were based on interviews and a poll of members of the Janesville Education Association, according to a JEA news release.
The release said the four distinguished themselves in a number of areas, including a passion for serving students, a desire for all students to receive a well rounded education, a willingness to meet students' needs regardless of ability or background, understanding of the function of the district budget's Fund 10 balance or readiness to learn about it, realization of the importance of hiring and retaining the best teachers and respect for diverse points of view.
Also running are incumbents DuWayne Severson and Lori Stottler and challengers Tom Lemmer and Diedre Richard.

I somehow get the impression that people commenting on these articles haven't the slightest idea what "administration" does in schools.

That would be the thing to do, tallman, but school politics favor those who care more about collecting money than children's education.

With unemplyment so high in Rock County, why not start a home school system with all the parents. Use that tax money for their system through open enrollment. We aren't going to afford to keep this whole mess going with systems loaded with administration, and middle management, sucking off the dollars at the top filtering the pennies down.
