WCLO's Beth Wheelock reports on changes you will see on Janesville's Milton Avenue.

After four months of negotiating, Janesville will have a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant near Milton Avenue.

Gale Price, the city's Manager of Building and Development Services, says the sports-themed wing and burger restaurant will be located in a new building on the former Walmart site and is scheduled to open in spring 2009.

Another change: the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant on Milton Avenue will be bulldozed and redesigned. Price says the owners will tear down the store and build a new KFC restaurant on the existing site. He says the current store is relatively small and the bathrooms don't meet accessibility standards.

Price has also received phone calls from people interested in purchasing the former Taco Bell restaurant on Milton Avenue. He says it's encouraging, because while the building is structurally sound, it has not been well-maintained.

"If we want to prosper and grow this city, then we're going to have to think outside the bar, I meant box"

Who is the "we" you refer to? Do you have someone in your pocket? Is your solution to prosperity to limit private investment in a restaurant model that appears to work locally?

People have choices. If you would prefer to not support a local food establishment because it's too similar to everything else-that is your perogative. However, you are not in a position to enforce what private citizens do with their hard earned capital. Consumers vote with their wallets. If janesville's consumers believe that BWW fills a need and if it meets the demands of their customers, it should do well-whether you chose to support it or not.

I find the posts that state "we need this or we need that" absolutely hilarious. If "we" need something, an opportunity exists-for someone. But the beauty of the USA is to test that hypothesis. Do we really need another chain? I do not believe I will ever go, however, if someone wishes to risk their capital, I hope it is a huge success.

TCB: Why do you care what I do or don't care about? That was a stupid question. Why post any of these stories period if we use your line of thought. The blogs are here for opinions and like ...... everyone has one so why not express mine. Do I really care what people invest their money in? No I don't. I just don't like the heavy chain, bar, and lack of diversity this city seems invested in. If we want to prosper and grow this city, then we're going to have to think outside the bar, I meant box.

Wish there was another great restaurant like Roherty that served the best fish and was family owned. I was hoping there'd someday be a restaurant that focused more towards vegetarian meals in Janesville. If anyone knows of a restaurant that serves great fish or vegetarian, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Why do you care what a private investor does with his or her money? Obvioulsy, some private investor believes they can recoup their capital and earn a profit by investing in a Wild Wings.

I dont think the city is stopping private investors from building fast food restaurants. However, the consumer will ultimately determine the viability of these establishments. The city has a vested interest in that many of these chains sell liquor-as BWW does.

I do not understand why we have two topics on a relatively non news event. Janesville needs another chain restaurant like America needs another bad mortgage. Moreover, these chains all seem to have similar things in common, which is a bar like menu. I know Janesville residents love their liquor and bars, but does the entire town need to be set up to accommodate that? Chicken wings, burgers, and steak for everyone oh my. Pretty soon the city will mandate a pool table and a dart board in every new restaurant.

You get what you pay for. Nearly every decent non-chain restaurant has gone under. Unless people start patronizing these non-chain establishments we will be forever "Chainsville?

Yeah, another chain restaurant. This is just what Janesville needs!
