End of an era

Ron Ranum of LP Tree Service makes a cut in a 200-plus-year-old oak tree in the front yard of Don and Jen Van Wart's Janesville home.

Chris Ranum, owner of LP Tree Service, said the tree probably died of old age in an area where it struggled to draw nutrients in the ground.
