Craig girls run to victory in Big Eight challenge
SUN PRAIRIE Janesville Craig’s girls nipped Madison West, 44-45, to win a Big Eight five-team challenge Tuesday at Sun Prairie.
The Cougar boys were third with 53 points. Middleton won with 41.
Rachel Gilmore led the Cougar girls, covering 4,000 meters in 15 minutes, 44 seconds for a fourth-place finish. Craig’s Stephanie Perleberg was eighth in 16:12, followed by teammates Jessie Finnane, who was ninth in 16:15, and Regina Griffith, who was 10th in 16:24.
Middleton’s Maggie Bollig won the girls race in 14:41.
Craig’s Jason Ruchti covered 5,000 meters in 16:44 for second place. Spencer Houk of Sun Prairie was first in 16:32.
The Cougar teams host the Midwest Invitational on Saturday at Blackhawk Golf Course.
