WCLO's Steve Benton reports on a grant request for a transit study

RSS

— The idea to expand transit service to Milton has been discussed for a number of years, but lately the idea has included Whitewater on the list.

Janesville Transit Director, Dave Mumma, says with the added enthusiasm from Whitewater, an application for a state grant has been filed.

If approved, the state will pay 80% of the feasibility study, while Milton, Whitewater and UW Whitewater will pick up the rest of the estimated cost of $50,000.

Mumma says they should know about the grant by November, could have a consultant ready by next March, and if the study shows the additional bus services are needed, a new route could be added by 2010.
