WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on intense police training at BTC

RSS

The Janesville Police Department is hosting a prestigious training event at Blackhawk Technical College.

Police training has become more consistent in recent years thanks to specialized training like a ten week course currently underway at BTC. Janesville Police Sergeant Brian Donohoue says the program is being conducted by the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command Training. Donohoue says 33 students from 24 police agencies and three states will learn the knowledge and skills necessary to assume increased administrative or line command responsibilities.

Donohoue says 80% of officers with the rank of sergeant or higher in the Janesville department have been through comparable training.
