WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on Sustainable Janesville Committee

RSS

Janesville moves forward with its sustainable committee.

The Sustainable Janesville Committee has high hopes of helping local government pursue more environmentally friendly practices, but first it'll have to get up to date. Committee Chair Nancy Sonntag says for Tuesday night's second meeting, a report from Acting City Manager Jay Winzenz is planned. An early initiative from the city council is to consider how to deal with plastic shopping bags. Sonntag says these bags have become a real concern, and options include banning, recycling, or promoting reuse.

The committee is also consider a community green or clean up event.
