Rock County Workender program expands
The Rock County Sheriff's Workender program is in such high demand it's expanding to include a mid-week component.
Lt. Russ Steeber says the program has the potential to become an alternative to probation and parole revocation to free up space at the jail. Non-violent inmates serve their sentence by participating in community service work crews. The inmates that pass certain criteria are allowed to stay at home during the week, but report to the Sheriff's Office on designated days to work off fines.
