Youth charged with starting fatal fire
A 16-year-old is charged in a juvenile petition with setting a fire that killed a Monroe man last March.
The Green County district attorney says state and local investigators determined the fire that killed Jeffrey Sullivan on March 23 was not accidental. A delinquency petition charges the 16-year-old with arson and felony murder.
The 37-year-old Sullivan was found in the basement of the house and died from smoke inhalation. He was able to remove his daughter from her basement bedroom. Sullivan’s wife and three children were outside when first responders arrived.
An initial court appearance is scheduled Sept. 29.
