A vote Thursday will determine whether a cell tower is built on the Rock County 4H Fairgrounds.

Rock County Board Chair Russ Podzilni says fair officials assure him there is enough space for the towers. He says space was one of the concerns from county board supervisors ahead of Thursday's meeting. Podzilni says the area designated for the cell tower was used by a fire truck at the last fair, but the fire truck does not need to go in that spot. He says he's also heard concerns that the county should be asking for more money from Global Towers. The total package of the lease amounts to just under $400,000 for the county over a ten year period. Then there are four five-year options to be exercised at the discretion of either party.

The tower is a monopole design that looks like a flagpole. Podzilni expects representatives from the company to answer questions at Thursday's meeting.
