Possible plea deal in child neglect case
A plea deal may soon be reached in the case of a 35-year-old Janesville man accused of child neglect resulting in the death of his 14-month-old son. Charles Rivers' defense attorney Don Weeden says his client has been distressed by the loss of one son, but also wants to be a father to his other child.
Rivers is accused of not seeking medical help for his one year old son after the boy sustained serious head injuries. After the injury, Rivers is also accused of driving to Beloit with his girlfriend to buy heroin.
Weeden expects a mutual agreement with prosecutors by the next court date of September 17th, which would be a trial by judge.
