— Part of a planned dog park in Milton could be open in mid-November after the city reached a deal with Alliant Energy and American Transmission Company.

The two companies are hoping to expand an energy substation adjacent to the dog park site near John Paul Road and Vincent Street. The expansion proposal has been delayed by stormwater issues with the state Department of Natural Resources.

Meanwhile, the companies have agreed to pay for labor to install fencing. The dog park committee announced it had enough money—$30,000—to install the fencing in August.

The Milton City Council approved the deal with Alliant and ATC on Tuesday. City staff continues to gather price quotes for the materials.

The committee also plans a fenced area for small dogs. The city council approved the purchase of playground equipment for the park this month.
