Beloit food companies may get an advertising boost from a federal grant program.

Beloit Chamber of Commerce Vice President Amy Loudenbeck says the grant money could be used to market food products to foreign countries. Loudenbeck says a company could get up to $300,000 in matching monies. Foreign ads, could bring foreign dollars in the U.S., which could be a real boost to a struggling economy. One opportunity may follow the perception some Chinese products aren't safe. Loudenbeck says American food products have a solid reputation.

The "Branded Program" covers promotional expenses including the cost of foreign trade shows, advertising, and label modifications.
