Janesville elementary students vote
Janesville's elementary school students elect Barack Obama as President of the United States in a mock election Tuesday, but some schools voted against past trends.
Allison Pennycook, Kennedy School fourth grade teacher and news anchor for the event, studied the school district's mock elections in 2000 and 2004 to predict how each school would vote this year. She says some schools that traditionally vote Republican voted for Obama. Obama won with 480 votes to John McCain's 58 electoral votes. Obama received 3,761 votes from elementary students and McCain had 1,348 votes. The school district also had one vote for Ron Paul and one vote for Ralph Nader.
She says she thinks the national election will be much closer, but in the past national results have been similar to the school district's results.
