Edgerton, Brodhead to play for regional title

Edgerton High School survived a tough second game to down visiting Platteville, 3-0, in a WIAA Division 2 regional semfinal Friday night.


Edgerton’s Rock Valley Conference champions won, 25-11, 25-21, 25-13.


The top-seeded Crimson Tide (31-8) faces Rock Valley South cahmpion Brodhead in the regional final at 7 tonight at Evansville. The winner advances to a semifinal match next Thursday at Brodhead in the Fort Atkinson Sectional.


Twin sisters Bethany Wedvick and Katie Wedvick notched 15 kills each to lead Edgerton past Platteville. Teammate Meggie Schmidt had six aces and shared digs honors with Anne Tronnes with 13 each.

n Brodhead 3, Monroe 1—The Cardinals bounced back from a 25-22 second-game loss with 25-7 and 25-12 victories to eliminate the Cheesemakers in a Division 2regional semifinal.


Kristen Ruchti posted 23 kills, and teammate Cassi Wymer registered 52 assists to pace Brodhead.


The Cards, Rock Valley South champions, face top-seeded Edgerton in a regional final at 7 tonight at Evansville.

Jefferson 3, Lakeside 2--Jefferson High won a marathon during a volleyball match Friday night.


The No. 3-seeded Eagles won a long match over No. 2 seed Lakeside Lutheran, 3-2, in a Division 2 regional semifinal match at Lakeside.


After losing the first two games, 25-21, 25-20, Lakeside rallied for 25-13 and 25-15 victories. Jefferson prevailed in the rubber match, 15-13.


Jefferson faces top-seeded Madison Edgewood at 7 tonight at Edgewood in a regional final. The winner advances to the Fort Atkinson Sectional.


Lakeside concluded the season at 25-5.

Top-seeded Edgewood hosts No. 3 seed Jefferson at 7 tonight for the regional title. The winner advances to the Fort Atkinson Sectional.

Top seed Big Foot (22-15) faces No. 2 seed Greendale in a regional final at 7 tonight at East Troy. The winner advances to a semifinal match next Thursday at Lakeside Lutheran in the Fort Atkinson Sectional.

Faith Christian (21-2), ranked No. 4 in the state coaches’ poll, faces top-ranked Burlington Central Catholic at 7 tonight at Williams Bay. The winner advances to the Hartland Arrowhead Sectional.


Kinsey Smith had 50 assists for Faith Christian and teammate Becca Brandes had 29 digs.
