Janesville Craig High School’s girls volleyball team got a second crack at Verona in the last week but again came up short.

After falling to the Wildcats at the Big Eight Conference tournament last Saturday, the Cougars lost 3-0 on Thursday in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal match.

“We came out pretty flat and didn’t pass the ball very well, and obviously, you can’t do that against a team like Verona,” Craig coach Blake Budrow said.

“After playing them pretty close last Saturday in the tournament, we just didn’t play as well tonight.”

Michelle Straw had six kills for Craig in only nine attempts.

Verona plays at Kenosha Tremper in Saturday’s regional finals.
