Elkhorn High’s football team brought out the offense Wednesday to become eligible for a WIAA playoff berth.


Six players scored seven touchdowns, and Jake Gahart kicked two field goals and seven extra points as the Elks completed their Southern Lakes Conference and regular season with 55-21 blowout of visiting Wilmot (2-7, 1-5).


The win lifted Elks to 3-3 in the conference and 5-4 overall, making them alsmost certain to get a postseason bid.


Dan Wester scored two Elkhorn touchdowns. Senior quarterback Eric Bryson, Lisle Blackbourn, Ethan Lockhart, Ross Olson and Tyler French also crossed the goal line for the Elks, who jumped to a 31-7 halftime lead.


French completed Elkhorn’s scoring with a 95-yard touchdown run and finished with 108 yards on six rushing attempts. Bryson threw for 125 yards in becoming Elkhorn’s all-time passing leader.

n Union Grove 14, Waterford 13—A missed extra point on the final touchdown gave Union Grove (7-2, 5-1) its narrow upset over Waterford (7-2, 5-1) and a tie with the Wolverines for the Southern Lakes championship.


Dan Vyvyan scored on a 7-yard pass from Ethan Schauf and on a 5-yard run to give Union Grove its two touchdowns. Christian Leedle’s two extra-point kicks proved to be the difference.


Vyvyan finished with 180 yards rushing on 34 carries.


Jacob Dostalek had 188 yards rushing on 22 carries for Waterford and scored his team’s touchdowns on runs of 10 and 16 yards.


The Wolverines had an seven-game winning streak snapped. Their only other loss was 7-6 to Brookfield Central.


Union Grove’s losses were to Elkhorn, 24-20, and nonconference opponent Evansville, 34-33, in overtime.
