Police seek suspect in assault

— Local police have released a composite drawing of a suspect and are looking for leads in the investigation of an aggravated assault and attempted robbery Oct. 16 in the 100 block of South Academy Street in Janesville.

The suspect confronted a 44-year-old Janesville man and tried to take the manís cell phone at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16. The assailant clobbered the victim in the back of the head with a 2-by-4 board. The victim was treated and released at Mercy Hospital in Janesville.

The victim provided a description from which police generated the composite sketch. The suspect also might be driving a brown 1999 Oldsmobile Alero GL with Wisconsin license plate number 742NCP.
