-- SETH JERARD NEWMAN, 22, Beloit, on charges of damage to property—a Rock County Sheriff’s Office squad car—at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, at South Riverside Drive and East Valley Road in Beloit Township. The Wisconsin State Patrol also arrested Newman on charges of drunken driving, prohibited alcohol concentration, open intoxicants in the vehicle and inattentive driving.
-- JEFFREY A. CAPLES, 20, of 5402 E. County J, Clinton, at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Rock County Sheriff’s Department on charges of burglary and theft.
-- JEREMY B. JAMES, 23, of 212 Reinhold St., Edgerton, at 12:06 a.m. Thursday at Main and Milwaukee streets in Janesville on a charge of substantial battery stemming from an earlier incident in the 2300 block of Milton Avenue in Janesville. The 23-year-old man reported as the victim in the case was treated and released at Mercy Hospital in Janesville.
-- BURGLARY reported Oct. 4 at the Johnstown Community Center, 9937 E. County A., Johnstown. Taken were speakers and amplifier and $300 in alcohol.
-- SUBSTANTIAL BATTERY to a 44-year-old Janesville man in the 100 block of South Academy reported at 2:33 p.m. Thursday. An unknown assailant hit the man over the head with a 2-by-4.
-- SUSPICIOUS FIRE at 2:22 a.m. today at a vacant house at 903 McKinley St., Janesville. Janesville Fire and Police departments are investigating the fire, discovered by a Janesville Police Department officer on patrol, which started underneath the basement stairs of this two-story, wood-frame house, owned by Kenneth Donnan, Footville. Damage was estimated at $1,000.
-- HIGHWAY 26 AND COUNTY N at 5:46 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10. A car driven by Roland Socwell, 78, of 6411 N. Lima Center Road, Whitewater, was eastbound on County N when he collided with a car driven by Brian K. Yount, 20, of 867 Sherman Ave., Janesville. Yount was transported to Mercy Hospital and treated and released. Socwell was sited for failure to yield.

-- MELINDA A. CONDON, 19, 2510 Mount Vernon Ave., Janesville, on Thursday on West Main Street in Whitewater. She also was cited for operating after revocation.
