— Beloit police officials are calling Thursday's multiple agency crackdown on illegal activities on Beloit's southwest side a success, despite not pulling in any big-time criminals.

Deputy Chief, Norm Jacobs, says they arrested nine people, seven for illegal drugs.

Neighbors applauded the efforts and Jacobs says many told police they wanted to get more involved in crime fighting efforts in the neighborhood. Jacobs says when residents are happy, they stay in their homes and stabilize neighborhoods.

The sweep involved police from Beloit and Janesville, the Rock County Sheriff's Department, and the FBI and ATF agents.
