— UW-Rock County suffered a 3-0 loss to Madison Area Technical College in a Wisconsin Junior College Athletic Association men’s soccer tournament semifinal here Wednesday.

The Rattlers finished the season at 12-2-1, suffering both losses in tournament play. UW-Rock lost 2-1 to UW-Fox Valley in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference tournament title game last Saturday.

MATC plays UW-Fox Valley for the WJCAA title on Saturday.

MATC scored all three goals within a six-minute period in the first half. Kelby Thomas got the first goal at 22 minutes. Dan Bednarczyk made it 2-0 at 25:00, and Thomas scored at 28 minutes.

“All three goals were off rebounds,” UW-Rock coach Grant McNall said. “We made the initial good play, but we couldn’t follow it up with another one.’’

McNall lamented his team’s two losses.

“It’s unfortunate this team has to finish with two losses,” McNall said. “After 12 wins, it’s those two losses that are going to stick with us.’’
